The Onyx Athos 5 brings the character of a classic stove into the modern home. Its graceful proportions and heritage-inspired details suit period properties and traditional interiors, while the engineering inside is entirely up to date.

The Athos 5 is a dedicated woodburner, built to get the most from seasoned logs. It has a durable steel body and a cast iron door that opens to 180° for easy loading and cleaning. Cleanburn and Airwash technology keep the glass clear and the burn efficient. It is Ecodesign compliant, rated A+ and approved for use in Smoke Control Areas as standard. Athos and Olympus stoves can take their combustion air from the room or, with the optional outdoor air kit, directly from outside the home.

Standard (room air) – The stove draws air from the room it heats. Your installer will advise whether a fixed air vent is needed under Building Regulations.

Outdoor Air Kit – Ducts air to the stove from outside, which suits well-insulated, airtight homes and helps avoid drawing warm air out of the room.

Onyx Athos 5 Wood Burning Stove

The Athos 5 measures 512mm wide, 585mm high and 329mm deep. It can stand on a 12mm hearth and has a 128mm (5") flue outlet that exits from the top or rear. An optional outdoor air kit lets the stove draw combustion air directly from outside. A site survey is recommended before purchase, and the stove must be installed by a qualified solid fuel installer. A carbon monoxide alarm is a legal requirement.

The design follows traditional stove lines, with an arched door and an anodised handle with a black knurled grip and champagne end caps. The clear glass gives a full view of the fire, and the Airwash system sends a curtain of air over it to help keep it clean.

The Athos 5 has a nominal heat output of 4.8kW, adjustable from 2kW to 6kW, at 82% efficiency. Its convector heat system circulates warm air around the room as well as radiating heat from the body. It needs no electricity and no remote; air controls on the stove set the burn rate.
