What is BEV® Technology?
Planika BEV® Technology – A Game Changer in Modern Fireplace Design
BEV Technology – Burning Ethanol Vapours is an advanced and patented ethanol vapour combustion technology developed for modern fireplaces by Planika’s team of international engineers.
Planika fireplaces with BEV technology are a perfect solution for projects with real fire, without the need for chimney installation or air supply. They do not require the venting of exhaust gases, which allows for arrangement freedom. They do not generate smoke, soot, or ash, and can be placed almost anywhere, including media walls under the TV, or a room divider in glazed or unglazed option. Planika recently created the world’s first outdoor models with BEV technology.
Thanks to the complete combustion process, fireplaces with BEV technology do not release any harmful substances into the environment

Planika bioethanol fireplaces are safe, convenient and easy to arrange in any space. Advanced BEV Technology automates and refines the entire burning process – the ultimate real fire solution for any interior.
Planika fires are the best and easiest solution whether you want an insert with a casing as the whole solution. With different lengths, and variations of the casings the fireplace can be visible from chosen sides. As Planika ethanol fireplaces have clean combustion – no chimney or flue required – the installation costs are low. You can enjoy real flames and warmth of the fireplace with no hassle.

The cleanest, safest fireplace
To make sure their fireplaces are safe to use in every condition, Planika equip them with multiple safety sensors. This way, any possible malfunctions can be effectively identified. In case an error is detected, the sensors send a signal to the microprocessor to turn off the device. The user is additionally warned via the mobile app.

more bioethanol fire information
Bioethanol fires are primarily designed for visual appeal and as a supplementary heat source. They provide localised warmth, making them ideal for creating a cosy environment in a single room or small space. However, they are not intended to replace a central heating system for heating an entire home.
Burn time varies depending on the model and flame setting. On average, one litre of quality bioethanol fuel lasts between 3 and 4 hours. Firefly can advise on the best fuels to use and supply them directly. Bioethanol fuel is also available from many home improvement stores, specialist fireplace retailers, and online outlets. Always choose fuel designed specifically for bioethanol fires to ensure safety and performance.
Maintenance needs are minimal. We recommend cleaning the burner or fuel tray regularly and inspecting components for any signs of wear.
It’s also best to remove any residue from previous burns before adding fresh fuel. Follow the manufacturer’s guidance for the best results.
Yes, they burn a renewable fuel source cleanly and efficiently, with little energy wasted. That said, efficiency can vary between models, so it’s worth choosing one with a higher thermal efficiency rating if heating performance is a priority.
Yes. Since they produce no smoke or harmful emissions, bioethanol fires are generally suitable for smoke-free zones or places with ventilation restrictions. Always check local regulations before installation.
Bioethanol can be more expensive per hour of use than solid fuels such as logs or coal. However, the convenience, clean burn, and flexible installation often outweigh the cost difference for many homeowners.
Yes, as long as they comply with relevant fire safety rules. Bioethanol fires are often chosen for restaurants, hotels, bars, and event spaces to create a warm and stylish atmosphere.
Many Planika fireplaces offer remote control or app-based operation. This allows you to adjust flame height and heat output from anywhere in the room, making them easy and convenient to use.
Yes, provided they are placed in a well-ventilated outdoor space and local open-flame rules allow it. They are popular for patios, terraces, and garden areas to create a focal point on cooler evenings.
